Style Of Yoga

The Way In Which Yoga Is Done Is Referred As Style Of Yoga.

Style Of Yoga Includes Following:-

1. Traditional Yoga:-

a. Hatha Yoga:-

By definition, hatha is a physical yoga practice, which is pretty much all yoga you’ll find in this hemisphere. One of the six original branches of yoga, “hatha” encompasses nearly all types of modern yoga. In other words, hatha is the ice cream if styles like ashtanga and Bikram are vanilla and chocolate chip. Today, classes described as “hatha” on studio schedules are typically a basic and classical approach to yogic breathing exercises and postures.

What exactly meaning of hatha yoga is as details given In “Hatha” there are two words “ha” which means hot (Right Nostri)and “tha” means cold (cold nostril).
Like ashtanga has eigth limps while in hatha yoga we have only six limps. It was preached by Matsyendra nath and spreader Goraknath ji and Jalandhar nath ji.

b. Bhakti Yog:-

Bhakti yoga, also called Bhakti marga or in english we can define it as devotional path(literally the path of Bhakti) its best authentic literature “Narad Bhakti Sutra” in which nine way explained for bhakti.  1. kirtan 2. sarwan 3. satsang 4. darshan 5. idol worship 6. reading 7. dhayan 8.jhaki 9. prashad

While in Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta there are three part of Bhakti marg 1. Bhakt 2. Bhagwan 3 bhav.

c. Karma Yog:-

Of the paths to spiritual liberation in Hinduism, karma yoga is the path of unselfish action. It teaches that a spiritual seeker should act according to dharma, without being attached to the fruits or personal consequences.Karma Yoga, states the Bhagavad Gita, purifies the mind. There are three part of Karma 1. Karta or doer 2. kirya or action 3. karmfal or result. everything should be in detached form

d.Gyan Yog:-

Gyana Yoga is the path where reality is discovered through insight, practice, and knowledge. Gyana Yoga has four principles: Viveka – Discrimination. Vairagya – Renunciation. in shrimad bhagat geeta it has also three part. 1. gyata 2. gyan 3. gyey

e. Siddha Yog:-

Siddha Yoga is a spiritual path founded by Adi Guru Sidhheshwar Shri Sadashiv Baba. when we talk about yog then Lord Shiva come in top of the line and then start different lineages in different religions. I would like to lighten few name who were famous linages in last few decades back. I will start it from my own linage From Adi Guru sidhheshwar Shri Sadashiv baba to next Maha parbhu shri Ramlal ji maharaj to next Shri Chandermohan ji maharaj to next and my Guru shri Chanderhaas sharma ji.  In the more or less same time Swami Muktanand ji, Maa Anandmayi, Pramhans Yogananda, Swami Vivekananda, Avdhoot Baba, Param yogi Devraha baba, Sant Mangat Ram ji, Dodhadhari Baba, Neemkaroli baba, Naga Bab Gopalgiri ji and Mahabir Giri ji.

f. Kundalini Yog:-

The practice of kundalini yoga features constantly moving, invigorating poses. The fluidity of the practice is intended to release the kundalini (serpent) energy in your body. Weren’t aware you had any? Well, just think of it as an energy supply, coiled like a sleeping snake at the base of the spine with three and half loop holding itself tail in mouth , waiting to be tapped; the practice aims to do just that — awaken and pulse the stuff upward  from muladhar chakra to crown chakra through sushmana nadi..

g. Raj Yog:-

Raja Yoga is the path of self-discipline and practice. Raja Yoga is also known as Chakra meditation with purification in different way.

h. Ashtanga Yog:-

From Hirnaygarbha to scholar Patanjali word to word explained nothing extra added by patanjali as original ashtanga yog has eigth limps in 195 slokas.

  1. Yama ahead in 5 sub limps ahimsha, satya,astey,barhmchary and aprigarah
  2. Niyam ahead in 5 sub limps shoch,santosh,sawadhayay,tap and ishwar parnidhan
  3. asana 4. pranayam explain 3 steps 5. partyahaar 6. Dharna  7. dhyan 8. samadhi a.sabij b. nirbij

2. Modern trend of yoga popular in world which is not real one while it is useful for our physical and stress free life beyond that an ordinary person don’t want to go ahead of such practices even tutor also not capable to take them to that path or very few are capable to do such practices.

a. Ashtanga Yog by Pattabhi jois

Six established and strenuous pose sequences — the primary series, second series, third series, and so on — practiced sequentially as progress is made. Ashtangis move rapidly, flowing from one pose to the next with each inhale and exhale.

b. Vinyasa Yog by Shri Krishanamchar 

Each series of poses linked by the breath in flow way is called a vinyasa.

d. Anusara yog by John Friend

Anusara yoga is a modern-day Hatha yoga system founded by John Friend. Anusara means “flowing with grace,” “going with the flow,” “following your heart.”.

e. Kirya Yog by Lahidi Mahasya

while kirya yog in mention in the Shrimad bhagwad geeta earlier but it was re-implemented by lahidi mahashay and linage in modern time.In kirya yog there are four part 1. asana 2. pranayam 3. swadhyay 4. dhyan

f. Iyengar  Yoga by BKS Iyengar 

B.K.S. Iyengar, was the founder of the style of yoga known as “Iyengar Yoga” and was considered one of the foremost yoga teachers in the world. He was the author of many books on yoga practice and philosophy

g. Power yoga by Bryan Kest

Power yoga is a style of yoga created by Bryan Kest, in the late 80s. Baron Baptiste, a Bikram enthusiast, put his own spin on the style, and branded it. NeitherBaron Baptiste’s power yoga nor Bryan Kest’s power yoga are synonymous with ashtanga yoga.

h. Hot yoga by Bikram Chaudhary.

Hot yoga is a series of 21 postures in extreme artificial heated at 40 degree room temperature.This style of yoga become very popular in america and Europe due to extreme natural cold environment and sweating was not easy to keep healthy. Even though a artificial environment always exhaust you and get somewhere side effect as well.
